The Center for Middle Eastern Classical Music
 in Tel Aviv

Sephardic and North African Jewry have a rich tradition of ethnic music and instruments, which have become an integral part of contemporary Israeli culture.

Starting January 2018, Yakar Tel Aviv has opened a branch of the renowned Center for Middle Eastern Classical Music in partnership with the Musrara Art School.

The center will encompass the full range of Middle Eastern music traditions. The curriculum will place special emphasis on the wealth of traditions developed by the Jewish communities of the Middle East, North Africa and Asia, and the unique interplay of religious and secular influences.

Additionally, Yakar and the Center will collaborate to create musical-cultural events open to the wider community.
